help, no indicators!!

hi:)

my indicators have gone on the blink :?

if i select up or down on the steering column stalk the green light inbetween the speedo and rev counter that should blink just stays on constant.

when i return the stalk to the centre position (off) the green light goes off but looks like its very faintly lit :dontknow:

anyway, the indicator lights externally do not come on at all with the stalk in any position

when i put the hazards on though all lights work as normal :dontknow:

is this a kaput relay?? how much do these cost approx??

cheers for your time

TG :)

Need your console repaired or mods done? drop me a pm:)

Yep, a sign of a broken relay. New ones from GSF are ?6.25 + VAT (pn 93576) or grab one from a scrappy from a Mk2.

I have the same problem but have replaced the relay and checked all the fuses.  Anyone else have any other suggestions?  Also a pin out diagram of the hazard switch would be useful….

Check the contacts in the hazard switch are clean, and that both springs inside the switch which keep the contacts pressed together are present and correct.

This happened to me once when I was pulling the dash apart and lost the springs - it took me a while to figure out! I found you can substitute a bit of folded paper for a spring if you've lost one.

Also, just as an aside, GSF don't do refunds on electrical items, so make sure you really need a new relay before you buy one…

I had a dodgy connection at the back of the fuse box (earth I think) that caused exactly the same problem as you have...

If it was the relay the hazards wouldn't work, would they? It's got to be the fuse. Mine did this a little while ago too! Check the fuse box first, mine needed a wiggle and a good push.

Is the fuse for the indicators separate from the one for the hazards?

My money is still on the hazard switch
