Settling In
help my cars on fire!!
was driving car about, stopped left car n went shopping. came back n started up the car, ok. switched on lights n smocke started coming out from behind the dash. (cue five P, fifty P, arse moment) switch off n jump out of car leaving doors moment. removed dash later at home, fried wire's n burning smell. does anyone have have a spare dash wiring loom? its a 1.8ltr 8v lhd cabrio.

Common fault mate unfortunately, the culprit is your headlight switch so buy a new one from VW Heritage and contact Funkstar for your loom, pretty easy to get hold of really.

more likely the wire that goes to heater control panel bulb has shorted out burning the wire and switch out.

or the dim dip resistor wire has shorted out on the chassis somewhere. which wire exactly has melted?
