heaters arn't working.

Hi iv got a few electrical problems, My heaters wern't working yesturday when i tried them, i tried all possible settings and nothing.. so i checked the fuses 1st, i found 20amp fuses was gone so i replaced that and tried again. This time when i tried the heater there was still no blowing except now when i turned the switch on it made the the engine go lumpy like it was loosing electric power.. so i turned the switch back to off and then the engine was running smooth again. I turned the engine off and checked the new fuse i had replaced to find the plastic surround for the fuse had melted! but the fuses still intact. I have absolutly no idea what that mean i need to do, so hopefully someone can give me some pointers!!?

I'm assuming that your talking about your blower motor when you say heater.  Sounds like your blower motor could be seized, either way it is drawing far to much current, as its blowing and melting the fuse!

Quick check will be to remove the scuttle plastic panel and fan assembly cover and see if you can turn your fan by hand, if you can, get your self a length of cable and carefully touch the positive connector with you cable to the battery positive terminal. If your fan then runs you probably have a short to earth somewhere (chaffed cable maybe)?

Again be carefull, although there isn't alot of voltage in a car battery, its the currant that does you damage.
