As a result, I usually have full time heater vents even during the summer.

CHECKLIST
1st get a friend to check whether the little black plastic flap in the engine bay on the end of the cable is moving full stroke between the 2 stops on the valve, whilst you are sitting in the car moving the slider control from hot to cold. It must travel to the plastic stops on the valve, or it will not close fully.
If it is not, then manually move it to its full closed position, if you can, then see if your heater blows cold. If it is still blowing warm then you need to replace the valve attached to the end of the cable. As previously mentioned about ?12 from EuroCar Parts.
If it is now blowing cold your valve is fine. then you have to reset the cable so that it operates full stroke to the 2 stops on the valve when switching from hot to cold.
If the cable in the engine bay is not moving when you move the temperature slider from hot to cold then the cable has snapped or become disconnected somewhere.
Hope this helps guys! have pictures but not worked out how to attach yet, any pointers welcomed!!!

the valve was being obstructed from moving full stroke by a jubilee clip. easy fix anyway and the girlfriends is into single figures with complaints about my baby - bonus!

Bigelsy -
You will need to host your pics online before you can post them on here. To do this you can open account with Photobucket Account (for free) & save your the pics from your PC to there.
Then you can post them on here by using the URL code.
I would be very interested in seeing your pics as I still have constant warm air - so much that I always drive with my roof down even when the sun is not out!
