headlight problems

got some headlight probs on my 81 cabby. i get sidelights no low beam but i do get high beam. ive got a new switch on the way but i not sure if it could be a relay as well?
any help
also if anyone has an electronic version of an 81 cabby's wiring would be grateful if you could email me a copy

Could be the switch on the stalks, the main light switch controls the main & dipped as part of the same circuit which is then controlled by the stalk switch, so unlikely that the main switch would be the cause of this problem.  As far as I can remember there is no relay on the main & dipped circuit.

check the fuses, different one on each side. also its possible the dim dip filament has blown in both bulbs

No relays were ever fitted on the lighting circuits .   I would be interested in your fix on this problem ?

just had the same problem but i had not wipers either!!! got a auto electrican out!! he said it the switch and also the ignition electrics so i have changed both and now hey presto they all work like a dream!! could be the stalk like they say!!! i have a spare if u want to try it or where about are u could pop around and take a look at mine to see if my parts work on urs!!

fitted the new switch and it still doesn't work. im not getting live to the low beam section of the bulb.
so i could be the stalks?

yeah all fine now. they used to blow instantly but i found the problem fo that. last owner wired the live from the low beams straight to the earth on the spots and would instantly blow.  thats sorted no
so i need new stalks do i?

possibly, i assume you have the original S1 glass/ceramic fusebox in there?  I'll have a dig thru the MK1 haynes later see if i can figure it

think i found the problem. i was told to check the electrics to at the back of the ignition barrel and found this







the imobilises must connect to that

so i think i need to get a professional to sort it all out

is it a dimdip loom on that?
