Hazard prob!

Just wondering if anyone knows the easy way to fix a fuse box/relay problem? (although there probably is no easy way!  :banghead:  )
All that doesn't work is my hazard warning lights. The indicators themselves are fine, I've fitted the correct fuse needed for hazards, but it blows as soon as I put it in before I even turn the hazards switch on.
Presumably this means a relay problem?
I'm going on a long journey soon, motorways etc, so I'd like the option of having hazards!  :(
Thanks for any help. Lot to learn!

I'd say you have a short circuit somewhere.
As the indicators work fine and the fuse is blowing when you turn the hazards on, I'd start by swapping the hazard switch!

I believe the hazards work off the same relay as the indicators - The switch just powers both left and right circuits at the same time, so if your indicators work ok, then I would say that the relay is not at fault…

Cheers!  :D

My hazard switch is a bit dodgy and needs a good firm action to ensure it works properly. Was going to get rid of it in favour of a toggle switch but it is VERY complicated inside!

Re : Driver - GTI!  8) Hats off for the transformation. :notworthy: But on a simpler note for us beginners, I wonder if you'd mind telling me how you fitted the A pillar wind deflectors when you first started minor mods on your Golf…did you have to tuck them under the windscreen rubber? Got some to put on mine, but wonder if it's a pain to do. I'm somewhat limited in my experience!
   Cheers!

Yup - they just tuck in under the windscreen rubber surround and sit in the drain channels (got some on my Driver too!)

As he said…
Mine had some thick sponge stick pads on them to help them stay in place, though I don't think these are required. They are a bit of a pain to fit mind you!

Don't do what a friend of mine did - he cut off the bits that fit under the rubbers then glued them to the a-pillars.  The first time he took it on the motorway they flew off into a field!

Thanks peeps. But you literally have to pull back the rubber and tuck them under? That's a disaster waitin to happen!

I fit them using a thin nylon builders brick line.  Use the line like when fitting a screen to pull the rubber over the plastic while pressing the plastic against the seal.
