If you have an MFA then the MPG indicator has an orange LED in the middle of it which is your gear change indicator. If this is not working it is often because a previous owner got annoyed by it and removed the relay for it (No. 4 I think)

If you mean 'button' not 'bottom'!! Then this is the switch for MFA (it's the one in the top right corner). on position 1 it is current readings - i.e. current time travelled, current MPG etc. Position 2 is total readings since the battery was last disconnected/system re-set so would give total hours driven in car, total MPG over that time period.

Ref your other post on the MFA not working, can be a number of issues. Do any of the functions on it work?

I may be wrong but guessing if it doesn't work at all it is knackered for good? If there is something else at fault then you'll often get other functions working, if only the clock.

Check that the earth wire is connected to the rocker cover on the rear right nut, if the wire is missing the MFA will not work.

mfa

the guage at the top for fuel consumption works, but the mfa does nothing…should i have a gear light?cant see it?  where is the relay for it?
also where should the pipe be? there is an outlet on the guages but no pipe….i presume it comes off the inlet manifold somewhere?

If the wire is missing from the rocker cover you should still see the time displayed e button on the end of the stalk will not function. Sounds like a faulty unit or a burn out in one of the copper tracks in the electrical circuit behind the clocks.

I've no idea where the wire comes from but would imagine it comes from the loom. Try and find the black wire with a ringed end around the rear right rocker cover area. The MFA won't work if the wire is not connected.
