Fuse box/ fuel pump relay query

Little help please guys…

Mk1 gti 1.6 on a W. Unsure which is the correct fuel pump relay. Currently fitted with the type with an external fuse. It appears to have had the re-call/mod done at some point as the fuel pump relay is on a remote mounting. The fuse box is the type with a single row of euro style fuses, not the blade fuse type. Does this make it a series 1 fuse box??? and also should it have a relay with external fuse or without?

yeah early fusebox so it should have a fuse on the end of it. i dont think the later relays even fit as legs different pattern? but if they do you could fit an inline fuse between pump relay and the fuel pump power jumper block near the A pillar (follow relay wires, you'll find it)

Am only getting 3.8 volts at the power jumper thingy you mentioned. 12v going into the relay no problem, so i'm guessing or rather hoping its the relay at fault.

yeah it would seem like it, if you jump input and output do you get full 12v?

I'll give that a go when to car comes back from the body shop
