Check the bulb holder for corroded terminals too…
I doubt it is the actual stalk switch as both lights would play up wouldn't they?

I cleaned up all the connectors on the back of the bulbs, there are 3, earth which is brown and two other wires which feed the dipped and main terminals on the bulb.
Best thing is to get a multimeter and check youve got volts going to the bulb.
I found around 10v which switches between the two feed wires depending on whether you are on main or dipped. Interestingly about 5v goes to the other one although I'm not sure if thats whats supposed to happen.
If you pull out the offending bulb you may be able to see if one of the filaments has gone.
After checking the earth wires I solved my problem by fitting zenon bulbs!
MOT passed.
If you fancy a trip to the seaside John come down and I'll sort it!!!!1

Are those xenon bulbs any good? are they just a straight swap?
Should I bring my bucket and spade?
