Front Window Wiper Problem

Hi Guy's,

I am having some problem with my front wipers, they work when the stalk is fully up and the washers also work, but nothing else does.  I have changed the relay with a second hand unit (which i think works) and it still doesn't work.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

sounds liek the motor might be bust then, a mk2/3 golf one is a good upgrade. cut out a good length of wire from the donor and crimp male spades on, push these into the mk1 plug matching the wire colours. while you're in the scrappy pinch a 99 relay from a mk3, this is a variable intermittent wiper realy.

even if neither of these fix the problem you'll have a better wiper motor and variable intermittent when you do so not a waste of money ;)

I think you need to check the operation of the stalk first.

I remember having to change one as some of the positions where not working.

This bits inside broke preventing the electrical contacts from working.

I don't disagree with the mk2 motor upgrade, I might do that myself one day.

Cheers guy's,

Does the MK2/3 motor bolt straight in on the mk1 mountings on do you have to custom a bracket and then just needs re-wiring?

Malcolm

I have tried three different stalks now, do you happen to have the wiper and stalk wiring diagrams?

Based on what you have said, the chances of all three stalks failing is remote and the solution provided by rubjonny is an answer to your problem.

I dont have the wiring diagram electronically, but I am sure the standard Haynes manual for your model should provide the detail.
