Front Speakers

I've brought some Alphasonic 6x4 speakers for the front and rear but havin problems fitting the front ones. I've taken the door card of and found the standard front speakers dont look as if they have never fitted properly. Do the speakers fit on the door card or on the door pocket frame?

Standard 6x4's fit in the door pocket mounting - no connection to the door frame.

Unfortunately there is a bit of a design flaw with the VW door pocket mountings which mean the screw holes in the plastic for mounting the speakers seem to crack really easily. I bought some Infinity 6x4's to keep things looking stock and several sets of second hand door pockets - almost all of them had broken speaker mountings. I am looking at fabbing up some kind of metal mounting frame in side the standard door pocket that will hopefully fix this.

I think GPC in Luton had new door pockets for the driver's side door at least a few months ago that weren't too pricey if thats of any use.
