Flashing oil light
I have a 1272 Driver. The head gasket went a while ago and this was changed. Its runs well now but since then the oil light sporadically flashes, stays on at time for a few seconds, doesn't come on for days some times. The oil level seems fine as I check this regularly.
Does it sound like it needs a new sender unit or could it be something more sinister??

Assuming yours has the twin sender set up like mine, you can test the buzzer by removing the cable from the high pressure sender, and rev to above 2000 rpm. The light should flash and the buzzer will sound. Disconnecting the other one will keep the light on after starting, but I can't remember if the buzzer sounds or not.
My light used to come on when it felt like it, and a slap on the dash used to fix it, but I got fed up with beating it up and took the speedo out. I found that the main loom was loose, and the connector at the back of the oil light was a wee bit loose as well.
So far so good!

I know the buzzer workk as when i first drove it after the head gasket was fixed it kept going of for the first few hundred miles.
It just flashes or stays on for short periods. Will take the clocks out and check the connection.
