Fitting MFA speedo to 82 1.6 GTi

I am looking at gettinga MK1 very soon. I am weighing up getting either a 1.6 or 1.8 GTi.

I was wondering if this can this be done easily or is lots of the wiring going to be different?

Hi Robin fitting an MFA speedo to a 1.6 non MFA car is possible but not worth it , you would need a wiring loom all the sensors [6 of] associated plumbing and different gearbox switches etc etc . Better if you want one to buy an MFA equiped car or a non equiped car and leave it at that .
Mfa is great when it works but when it don't !!!! You'll wish you never bothered .

I am planning a G60 conversion at some point anyhow, would it be simple enough to wire in whilst doing this conversion?

No in a word the G60 has its own unique wiring system .
Expect to spend in excess of ?2500 for this conversion in its basic state .

Same for all models as new wiring loom will be required to suit the engine , good luck what ever you decide .....
