fire behind my dash... help! auto-electrician needed!!

so my stereo shorted out on the way to work the other day and melted all the wires behind the dash, some down to the fuse box at least…and now my golf won't drive at all… its a mk1 golf gti cabriolet..  was quoted ?700  plus parts on saturday..

so my problem is… what the hell do i do!!
first i need to find an auto-electrician.. man how hard is that
second.. do i go through my insurance?? loose my 2 years no claims?? think they may right it off anyways..
three.. do i cut my losses and sell the car as it is??

four.. erm. i dunno. im at a loss!!

i'm a girly.. its my first car.. i love it dearly.. im stuck and i dont know what to do!!! please help me!

Chill my mate,its not hard to fix,the main problem is to remove the dash,and thats not hard really,i have stripped many mk1's and there easy.The wiring loom can be repaired,?700 quid is a joke,dont claim either it isnt worth it in the long run,i can fix it but i bet you live miles from halesowen?????

Totally agree with Bert. Post your location and see if anyone here will lend you a hand. 2nd hand dash loom (Crazyquiff or Scouse will no doubt be able to help you out), and you'll probably be OK. Hard to tell without looking at it, but ?700 plus parts is way out !

Poor you I had an engine fire a few weeks ago…you will find all you need here, I got my new parts from Art1234 he may have what you need… :tlc:  But cheer up the guys and gals on here are great and will point you in the right direction…. :roll:
