favor needed please!!

im startin to rebuild my 83 gti cabrio and i have a melted brown and white cable that goes from somewhere around the g/box –fuse box area
this cable was cut when i got the vehicle!! but id like to sort it out so anyhelp would be brill   :wink:      

You should try and trace it back to see where it is originating from and then consult a wiring diagram.

If it is a thin wire it could be the earth side of the interior lamp to the door contact switches.

cant do that mate as it has been cut and not joined back and cant see anything it would connect to??

its not an int light as it comes up from by the g/box nr the switch for the mfa???

Is it the wire for handbrake light switch? (does the red light come on with the ignition on, and the hand brake raised?)

If it's a cut wire, where does the other end go to?

Could be for either the reverse-light switch or the 5th-gear switch (MFA), but if these are intact it could be an (unused) foglight wire with the end connector cut off. Does it go into the big black loom cover on its way into the fuse box, or is it "naked" all the way to the bulkhead?

send us a pic and iw ill try and help you out  i have a couple of golfs that i can check it out for you but need to to have some idea were to look
