fast indicators

hi, when i indicate the it starts flashing at normal speed and then the flashes get quiker and quiker. any idea whats happening?? gotta get it throught the mot soon!  :dontknow:

Probably one of your bulbs has gone or the connections are dirty. check all the filaments and give the connections a good clean.

Failing that, could be the relay (not to sure on the mk1 electrics at the moment but thought I'd mention it)

Indicator probs are normally down to bad earths or corroded bulb holders....

not a dodgy relay then?  ops:

look at the earth in the boot on the left hand side take it to bits and clean it up back to shiny metal . Can cause your problem if poor ….

thanks, il go do that now. dnt know if it would affect it either but i cut away a power supply to a tow bar that used to be fitted. didnt really thikn be fore i did it  ops: . il let you know how it goes.thanks

nooope, still no luck     could the front indicators affect the rear ones?? because the front ones are in quite bad condition.

WWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!! its sorted! turned out to be the front ones that wernt connected properly                  nearly ready to face the MOT man! just gotta figure out where to put a spare red wire that i thinks for the rear fog lights as thr not working yet  :wink:

Re yr reply about the wires on left hand side in the boot……

Around that area on my car it is completely rusty and will have to do something soon……there are three brown wires (all mine are completely encrusted in rust)……wot are they for??
one of the brown wires has been disconnected since I have had the car yet all the lights work (except for reversing lights - but they HAVE been working – I think my mech knocked something when changing bushes on gear box!!)

Those three brown wires are you earth's for the rear of the car . Might be better solder a new large wire to the 3 then bolt it to a sound part of the car , poor earth's will give all sorts of problems be it at the rear or the front of your car . I would be surprized if all the back end electrics are  working correctly if its that rusty .
