Erractic speedo, advice appriciated

ok, getting my newly perchaced 83 campaign to road spec, but, the speedo is doing all sorts of crazy moves, so ive changed the cable, and checked the gear, but, it just jumps all over the place, and reads about 40mph at about 20?? drove it with no dials, and speedo cable is turning over nicely.

so what do you think, new speedo head? or possibly something else?

oh and how come whenever you try to fix something, something else breaks lol.

Is it reading consistently over, or just all over the place? If consistent then different gear cog ratio would sort it

well, its smooth untill about 13-15mph, and seems about right, past that it jumps up and down, as if its sticking, and the speed is well off. i could try another gear, but almost dropped it in the box last time, defantly broke a bit of a sweat there lol
