enigne fan wont turn off!

all was good today, fan cut in when engine got hot but now it wont turn off!!! i have to pul the 2 wires out fromt the plug on the bottom of the rad! any ideas?

Sounds like the fan switch (which senses coolant temp in the radiator) has stuck in the "on" position. Once your car has cooled down, check this switch with a multimeter and see if this is the case.

replace the fan switch in the bottom of the rad (one with 2 wires coming off it) my brothers mk1 had this problem, fan started cutting in way too early, taking ages to switch off, in the end it wasnt even getting halfway up the temp guage before cutting in, replaced it and all is dandy now.

Gsf do 2 different switches, one for high temp and low temp version.
