engine wiring loom promlems

Hi
Can anyone help? Im having problems with wiring I've just had a recon engine put in my GTI 1.8 mk1 most things in the engine bay are new parts starter motor' water pump, leads ect. The problem is that the oil pressure light and battery lights are on when the car is running, the oil pressure sensor is new the alternator is new and the battery is new-ish. also the horn and radiator fan have got direct feeds from the battery the garage did this.

Can this be fixed with a bit of rewiring the parts that need it?
OR
would it be best to have a new engine loom fitted?
anyone know where i can get an engine loom from?

your help would be great  :D as my car has been off the road for a while now and its getting to be an ar*e. :banghead:

There is a thin wire coming off the alternator (can't remember what colour it is) that runs back to the fusebox (block 'a' I think) that turns off the battery light when the alternator starts charging. Check this for continuity. Should sort that one.

As for the oil light, again check continuity from the sender to the fusebox, check the earth for it. Silly question but have you checked the oil level? :dontknow: If all that seems ok it could be a faulty sender?

yes the oil level is correct well on the dip stick it says its ok.
When i had the recon engine put in it had no dip stick as the one out of my old engine was to long i had search hign and low to find an early gti dip stick as its shorter, i was also told that you dont need the orange sleeve as the dip stick goes straight into the dip stick tube.

so yes i think the oil is ok.

Cheers for the imfo

I've got a guy looking at it but i dont rely want to spend lots of money unless i need to.
