engin cuts after 6 seconds ??
Hello all, just joined. Looks like just the club for me. And on that note:-
Can any body help me with a fuel problem?
Car starts fine, only runs for 5/6 seconds, hear a relay click, from fuse box area, car stops. If fuel relay contacts L13 L14 are linked together, pump heard running engin runs OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Need new relay me thinks :dontknow: By bridging the wires you are by passing the relay
Cheers………….
Hi thanks for reply, the relay has been replaced
Does the fuel pump run continuously while the engine is running or does the pump pressurise the system when required?

Runs when the engine is running any spare fuel goes back to the tank via the return line .
Despite a new relay being fitted i would try another just to make certain .
You should also check the wiring to the coil this provides the continuous power supply when the engine has started to the relay , its a safety item designed to shut the fuel off in the event of an accident . Haynes manual has agood wiring diagram that shows this .
Thinking about it coil first then spare relay
Post how you get on
