Electric window switches for an electric life kit ?

I know this has been asked before and yes I've been thru the 30 or so threads that dealt with this but which are the best switches to use with an electric life kit for the Mk1 tintop please ? And if anyone has the instructions / wiring diagram from their electric life kit still handy that would be a life-saver.

The motors only have 2 connections so I assume that means that positive on one end and negative on the other depending which way you want the motors to go ?

Is it going to be necessary to get a 'comfort module' or other offboard box to make it happen or can I just use a few of the relays I've acquired from scrapyards over the years (will the 4 pin relays (30, 85, 86, 87) work or am I going to need five pin (30, 85, 86, 87, 87a) relay please) to do the job ?

From the other threads - This seems to be the most useful link I found, but any further help would be much appreciated.

Depends on how and where you want to mount the switches?

If you want 1 touch control like the cabbys then you will need a control box etc etc

Otherwise just a positive and and an earth

Not bothered about one touch (hated that system if the truth be known) but what switches (from what car if poss) would have the five pin arrangement that can switch the + and - around so I don't have to wire up 4 relays to do the same job ?

Mk2 Golf/Mk4 Polo will do the job, also have a 6th pin for illumination. Cheapest from a local scrappy as they should have plenty in!

just remember they wont fit in mk1 cab switch holder in the console as too big. you'll want scirocco window switches or if you can find them a mk1 cab el kit with normal up/down switches (1 touch switches wont work with basic windows)

i might have some suitable switches actually, will have a look later

rubjonny -
Not to worry I'll cut some slots in the dash / centre console for them. All I care about at this point is having electric windows.
I noticed that in some of the other threads that you said you had an electric life kit too, you wouldn't happen to have a wiring diagram for it (switch pins and all) would you please ?

you should definitely add a relay as you can blow fuses if you just take it off an ign live feed (ask me how i know!)

factory mk2 wiring for leccy windows is basically the same, see my sig for jetta89.pdf which will show you how to do it the factory way on a later mk1 golf blade fusebox :)
