electric speedo drive

Hi,

I have a mk1 clipper and want to change instrument cluster for gauges but the speedo is run by a mechanical speedo drive from gearbox and all new speedo gauge pods are run by electric pulse speedo drive.

i am thinking of changing engine to 2l 16v abf or g60. i know the later g60 have hydrolic gearbox with electric speedo drive but that means changing pedal box too which i want to stay away from.

is there any gearboxs with electric speedo drive that would work or is it possible interchange the speedo drive between various gearboxs to make it work with those engines.

or is there an other solution?

All mk3 Golfs have an electric sensor at the gearbox end. I have 2 if you want one for the cost of pastage.

do you know if it will fit into the mk2 16v gear box to replace the mechanical drive

It's the same end as the speedo cable but with a plastic box sat on top so it just screws in as though you were tightening the cable end.
