Electric problems

I have a Mk1 cabby Rivage with a 2.0 16v Mk3 golf engine in it, car has been in storage for 2/3 years, Clifford alarm fitted,

Car has had fuel flushed out and fresh put in, new dizzy, cap, arm, leads, plugs, fuel pump ok, fuel lines ok,

Had problems with starting but can now get it started,

But i have to turn the car over, rev it up, turn ignition off then on quickly and then the car idles and runs ok,

If i just turn it over normally, it idles for a couple of seconds (if that) then cuts dead, rev counter drops to '0' and car dies, same as turning off with key, not a gradual cut out,

Fuse box is a right mess, wires everywhere, if i clip the fusebox back up under dash car turns over but will not fire up, so its making me think theres a problem in this area,

What relays/fuses/ wiring/connectors do i need to look at ?

Any links to wiring diagrams ?
I would get a haynes manual but its says it doesnt cover convertible, so i dont want to waste another ?15 ! lol

Just sounds like a loose connection to me. When the fuse box is up it's probably creating tension in a wire and it's coming out slightly. Take out and then put back in all the fuses securely and tighten all the connections. If the problem only exists when the fuse box is moved I can't see it being much else.

The problem is there all the time, just when you push the fusebox up it wont start at all,

Some of the terminals in the fusebox look a little corroded so might try and get another one,
