orange light should come on in every gear to indicate the correct time to change up ( for economy ) the needle should only work in 5th gear to show instant consumption.
Nether of these work on my series 2 though  :banghead: ( the rest of the mfa in fine )

Never seen the light or the needle! MFA won't reset, oil temp works, but it tells me external temp is -40 (even today) and that i'm averaging 10.2 MPG!! :banghead:

Check the switch on the gearbox (combined with the reversing light switch) and it's wiring. This activates the needle when you select 5th.

I'll check that one out, thanks stew72. I have a wire poking out of the loom and not going anywhere, i wonder if the other half is attached to the gearbox?

My economy gauge didn't work until I connected the tube that runs from the vacum advance to the back of the throttle body now works perfectly. Everything on the MFA works except fuel consumption is wrong. Changed the oil on Friday and ever since the oil temp won't come up any ideas?

mines the same MFA won't reset, front bumper sensor is at -40 but the rest is fine - the needle works…. where is the light supposed to be??  I tend to change up when the rev counter needle hits the red bit on the dial :D
