Dissy oval plug on side??

ok my big end went ion my mk1 gti cab so i got a new re-built 2.0 with a dx head , now ive realised the wiring on the side on the dissy is oval not rectangle like mine was so i need to find somewhere to get an oval end to "bodge" on to the end of my wiring , the thing is i cant find one , im in newcastle and have had a good look round the typical places , (veedub's gosforth metal , sacriston billys ) and no-one has one i have been informed that there from the early mk 1 's so does anyone know where i can get one ? or have one there willing to part with its just the oval end i need ,

the car has been off the road for over a month now , so anoying ive got everything sorted won and the wiring just dont fit , agh

can anyone help ?

Do you mean the hall sender plug (3 wires)? I've never seen an oval one, if anything the earlier Golfs didn't have one at all since they didn't have electronic ignition. There are 2 different types of the hall sender plug. You should be able to pick one up secondhand by searching around eBay, or other forums, for the wiring loom for the ignition system for a later VW. Or perhaps VW do that little section of loom and you could cut the plug off? Or, try Vehicle Wiring Products - they do all sorts of weird plugs used on car electrics.

Not only are the oval and rectangular plug different in shape, but the cut out in the dizzy body to hold it is also different.  Couldn't you take the dizzy out of the old engine and put that back in the new engine, thus having a hall sender and ICU that are suitable for each other?
