DIGIFIZ into MK1............

Well after all these years of trying to get one, I finally got a Digifiz for the MK1 with wiring loom and speed sensor. Not evryones cup of tea I know but I love em  :wink:

Anway reason for the post is that I think  I can work out most of the wiring, but on the MK2 the rev counter is drivn from the ECU but on the MK1 it comes straight off the coil. Does anyone know if theres a reason for this ? I'm hoping the signal is the same and that the coil mehtod will still be fine but don't want to Fry the thing before I've put it in.
Any help much appreciated.

Is it because the MK1 didn't have an ECU?
