Digifant engine

Hi, I have a 1989 Golf GTi Cabrio with a Digifant engene swap. The car runs well until it heats up and then the car will only hold it's revs at tickover. If you try and rev the car it labours and makes a clunking noise. I have tried to rev it using the accelerator and on top of the engine with no joy. Does anyone have any experience of this problem and a possible solution?

cluncking were top end or bottom end

Hi, the noise seems to be coming from the water pump area.

check the plug leads are round the rightway and the cambelt is on properly :wink:

the car was rumnning fine up until parking it up to change some bushes a few weeks after changing the fuel filler neck. Nothing has been taken off around the engine. I suspect a fuel filter blockage or something electrical inhibiting the engine
