differences on looms?

whats the difference in the engine loom of a 1..6gti and a 1.8gti??
my 1.6gti loom is full of problems and it would be easier to change the whole lot over than fixing the problems. there's no interior in the car at the minute so changing it over isnt that big of a job.

Not a lot …………..and any parts are easily modified .

But check the type of fuze box you have as the loom ends may be different .

need to watch the light switch you get differnt types 2 i think the plug is red or black the two switches dont fit that loom just have a look i had a hard time getting the corect one you dont want to start cutting joinig wires

loom ends are different but i'd change the fuse box and everything so that wont be a problem.
what i'm worried about is there any extra bits on the 1.8 that the 1.6 engine wont have that will stop it from working properly?
is there a trip computer in the 1.8??

yes on my 18 gti 1988 but the loom i got dont im not to botherd as i fitted vdo gauges and the mfa are prone to problems

I'm having the same problem with my loom need a new one and the 2 I have had have been different wiring so I'm confused So I think I'll take my Loom out and take it to crazyquiff and just get a match. I've read so many posts about people wanting new looms I'm suprised somebody hasent jumped to the chance to start making them they would make a killing
