Dashboard electric issues

Hi, i have a MK1 golf gti cabby, 'G' plate. My car now when i have the lights on, everything on the dashboard goes off, and it says i am on full beam, even when i'm on dipped. The lights sometimes aswell lock and unlock the doors aswel. The MAF is playin up, resets every time the lights are turned on and off, and the oil temperate has decided it won't work at all. A few people have said it is an earth wire? Is that what it sounds like, and if so what is the easy way to rectify it?

yes bud the earth wire near the scuttle area sorted mine ...same probs as yours as well....if you dont get it sorted pm me and i will go into more detail for you,mines a 1990 cabby and it was doing the same...

hi mate. can you be a tiiiiny bit more specific please? scuttle panel is where lol? someones said it might be the earth by the rockercover?

yes thats the one.....it was making the mfa bad and also the highbeam/lowbeam work the wrong way around..jamie

Hi, found the issue. was the earth that went to the rocker cover allll done, alllll gravy !
