Dash lights

Hello all,

I've been lacking any dash ilumination on my series 1, Solely on the rev/speedo. All other dash lights are fine. I've had the dash off this week & have found the circuit on the the P.C.B on the back of the clocks is broken. Any ideas whether this is something I can buy or is it a question of finding myself some new clocks? Im assuming the boards are diff from series 1 to 2 or base model to gti? Any ideas? Cheers Guys

I had a problem with the digital clock on my instrument cluster so I just bought a second hand one off of ebay and swaped the knackered bit out.

I still kept my original cluster so the milage was still correct.

You should be able to swap out any bits that are broken.

I'm presuming that the flimsy plastic printed blue bit on the back of the clocks is broken? If you're carfull enough you can solder a wire on to one of the connections, somewhere a bit more solid like a resistor. Then trace how far it goes and solder to another section. But, this is all dependant on the condition of the printed section and if there are any suitable sections to solder to. I did this once to repair the back of my series 2 MFA clocks. Easiest way to repair though is to get a complete replacement.
