Coolant temp sensor wire cut and loose

Gents
So, last weekend I decided to tidy up the wiring in the engine bay, old brittle wires on the headlamps started me off, so repaired the loom, and whilst grubbing round the passenger side on the main loom to oil pressure switch coolant temp switch etc I found a yellow wire with black trace chopped off and clearly not connected.  Did a quick continuity check and found its on the circuit for the white coolant temp sensor on the front of coolant housing on the Cylinder head which has a yellow, with black trace cable too.  its a 1.8 carb engine in a clipper with weber conversion.  I found another wire which lookd similar up by the bulk head on the drivers side, which I think was a connector for the temp, sensor on the old pierburg carb.  no continuity from the old carb plug to this cable or the coolant temp sensor plug.

The cut wire appears to go into the loom, but that is as far as I have been.

Just wondering what this wire may either have done or might do.  The gauge and light on dash both working for coolant temp all ok

Any clever suggestions before I go further

sounds like its one of the old 2e2 carb thermoswitches, there should be 2 one for the autochoke and one for the inlet manifold heater. you dont need the autochoke with a weber carb so if its that one its all good

Cheers for that , I guessed it was for the coolant temp side of old carb but just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing another connector on the engine coolant side.  Will track wiring back and see what happens
