Cold blower has stopped working :( help!

hi all, i have an '83 tintop campaign model. the heater is fine, but on cold it still comes through really hot and i cant put up with it anymore! where do i start in finding out whats happened?

heater matrix by the sounds of it!

Is it still actually blowing? when you said heat is fine it made me think its blowing still.  Your just getting hot air all the time no matter what position you put the knobs in? heater matrix

i would have thought it was that valve in the engine bay not turning off the water into the matrix ?? so that hot water is flowing through it all the time, or of course the cable to it knackered ??

I had the same problem with my cab, it was managable until it rained and i need to de-mist the screen, It ended up being redders as I could'nt open the window for fear of getting a wet leg!

That was the heater matrix valve, once changed it was fine, as the previous poster has said.

Ah thanks guys for your help :-D it blows on all settings, and all directions but just hot all the time. i say hot, i assume its coming from the engine heat?!?! but not a clue. i will check the valve first, hopefully its just that and am also assuming or rather hoping they can be available from a local motor factors. fingers x'd! will report back when i can get it seen to! carrie

yeah you can get them brand new for under a tenner, get someone sitting in the car move the hot/cold lever back and forth to make sure the cable or heater control mechanism are working first to eliminate that (you will see the valve moving) if it does you need to pull the pipes off the valve itself and look inside to see if that is working (you will see valve inside open and close)
