Clocks sticking

The mileometer clocks are sticking (both sets)     , seems to be sticking at 9/10th of mile most of the time.  Rev counter n speedo uneffected.

Garage told me i would probably have to replace them.  Is this true :dontknow: If i have to get a secondhand set, can i wind the mileometer up or down to match the cars current mileage (136,000) :dontknow: Someone told me you can 'clock-them' with a drill :dontknow:
