charging fault
hello all. ive recentely changed the engine in my golf C from a 1100 to a 1300. all went well but since ive refitted the new engine a have a problem with charging. i go out in the morning and it starts fine. drive half an hour to work and if i try to start it again when i get there its dead. not a thing. jump starts fine and if i turn it straight off then on again will start fine again. a have a solid plastic plug going into the back of the alternator with two large red wires and a green one coming from it. however, i also have a black wire coming directly from the back of the alternator which doesnt go to anywhere but has the wire exposed like its broken off from somewhere, however i dont have the old engine to see where it should lead to. any help would be much appreciated as having check all wiring and earth points etc im at the end of my tether and considering giving up
