Ceramic to CE2 fusebox conversion, indicator wiring

Hi, im currently changing the whole car from the crappy ceramic fusebox with a whole load of melted wires, to a CE2 fusebox from a mk3.

It's so far going well with the use of a brown haynes and various printouts of rubjonnys documents.

However, with the mk1 there is only one lamp on the instrument panel for the indicators but on the mk3 there are 2 seperate lamps, 1 left and 1 right.

Where can I join the blue/red wire from the instrument panel to in order for it to illuminate when indicating either way, rather than just splicing into one indicator feed as presumably then it will only illuminate with one direction (not the irritating boy band)

Any help greatly appreciated :)

I don't know the answer, but have you checked the pinouts on the fusebox to see if there are tell tales for the indicators?

Or check the wiring diagrams for the gauge cluster and follow the wires back to where they go.

Failing that, you could splice into the indicator switch wiring, which'll give you left and right.

Thanks for that  :)

I think I was confusing myself with it all, I've spent the past 3 days sat in the passenger rear foot well surrounded by a mass of wires and sheets of paper and it's worn out my brain!

So far as I can see, ceramic pin-out shows:

D1 - Blue-Red - Dash clocks plug T14/2 (Indicator warning light)

However, according to Haynes, T14/2 is 0.5 Brown (earth) and Blue-Red to Indicator warning light IS D1 on fusebox but in fact T14/13 on instrument panel, so that's what I went with.

Following the D1 internal link shows that it is joined to E3, which is the Black-White-Green wire to pin 49a on the Hazard switch.

Pin 49a comes from H2/8 on the CE2 fusebox with the same Blk/Wht/Grn wire.

The MK3 instrument panel takes it's feeds for indicators directly from the two separate indicator outputs on the A1 and A2 plugs on the engine bay loom.

So.. Can you confirm my theory that I should join T14/13 Blue-Red to H2/8, that seems correct to me now, but with all these numbers and letters I think I will start seeing The Matrix soon

And I'm hoping that the above is correct as I got a little carried away and wrapped the Instrument panel/ Headlight switch/ Handbrake light section of the loom last night with said - Blue/Red wire in it   You can just about see that wire poking out of the tape at the very top near the CE2 plugs, which are all plain white wires for the instrument panel for some reason.
