central locking wiring

hi
i need help with my central locking, i brought 2 doors for my cabby and the central locking solenoids were already in them with the wires and the small LED's where the door lock pin should be.
At the moment i am using the solenoid without power because they are all connected making the key turn against the motor but with the wires just hanging in the door, and this is where my problem is there are seven wires in total and i havent a clue were they go, originally they were the type that worked with a remote but i havent got that so i would like them to work with the key.
the wire colours are :
black/blue and purple drives the small LED

then from the solenoid: black,white,blue,green and brown

i assume i dont need all these wires but i am unsure what goes were (i.e what wire connects the 2 solenoid to work in unision and also it needs a constant live power from the fuse box)

also the driver side is normally the master lock on central locking would this be the same

help much appreciated
cheers kurt

you will need all 7 wires in drivers door .. 5 for central locking 2 for led

i'm sure you need the 5 wire solenoid in the drivers door and 2 wires ones in the other door / doors or boot whatever you want to unlock, i am also sure without an alarm fitted to activate the solenoids you will need a control box, so if all you have is the doors with solenoids in you will need the extra bits, you but buy a whole kit from maplins for £25 i think, as for the leds you will also need some kind of controller so they only work with doors locked other wise you can put a pos and neg to them and have them on or flashing (dependant on led type) all the time ..

maplins kit notice 4 solenoids,wiring, push rods to connect to vehicle locks and the control box that you missing ..

cheers matt
the picture you sent didnt come through on my laptop but i checked on the website, i see what you mean about the control box, trouble is they probably cost as much as the whole kit.
i might buy a new kit then have a few solenoids as spares
thanks again for the quick reply matt
(p.s your build thread is ace)

Probably a bit late now but you can wire up the locking solenoids to work using 2 5-pin relays, this website is helpful: http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.aspname=Forums&file=posting&mode=reply&t=103171
Green and blue= lock and unlock by reversing polarities
Black=wired to ground
White=grounded when unlocked
Brown=grounded when locked

Most cars have a 5 wire solenoid on the front doors so that the key in either door will unlock all the doors.

You could wire the LED in the door up as a thief deterrent so that it flashes when the ignition is off to simulate an alarm.

Hope this helps.
