Central locking & alarm headache!

When I bought my Rivage it had a Cobra alarm fitted which operated the central locking.  :P It has always worked but with the occasional hick up, mainly being when I press the button on the key fob to lock & arm the alarm and theres still a door open. :x

This happened on sunday when the mrs was slightly behind me when getting out of the car, I pressed the button thinkning she was out and it made a long beep noise. Now it won't lock the passenger door at all, it also won't lock/open the drivers door on every press of the key fob button.

Ususally when I press the button the car locks and turns the alarm on, then 2nd press unlocks car & dissables alarm/immobiliser. After a short period, if the car is not started, the immobiliser kicks in and you have to press the button again. Now that process is all over the place. Beeps and indicator flashes, no locks then locks blah blah blah.  :banghead:

But this is the strangest part, now when I push the passenger lock down, the drivers one pops up! Then I pull the passenger one up and the drivers one goes down!!!!! 8O

I don't have any instructions for the alarm and don't know if theres any steps I can do to reset the alarm.

What I have tried so far:
1. Checked fuses - all fine
2. Disconnected battery - still same problem when reconnected
3. Tried random combinations of button pressing  :x

HELP!

Hi mate

Is it original VW Central Locking, or an aftermarket jobby?

I have installed an Aftermarket one and wired an alarm to it, and remember in the guide (troubleshooting) that if one lock goes up when you push the other one down then it was a fuse issue.

The thing is with the fuses is that they are part of the aftermarket loom, usually located in the doorcards or near the master controller.

If its original VW then i dunno

Right then, how do you tell what the VW central locking system looks like? I'll take the door card out later and have a poke around inside door.
