Car not starting!

After driving my mk1 golf GTI home last Friday everything was fine then when i went to start it again Saturday morning it wouldnt start. At first i thought it was the starter but i had the starter and solenoid tested and everything was fine.

When trying to turn the car over there is a clicking noise and nothing else, it will start though with a bump start. It was a new battery in January and its been charged. I then found that there was no power getting to the starter. I have now been told to run a new live feed direct from the ignition to the starter and see if that solves the problem?

Any ideas on what could be wrong? any help and suggestions would be welcomed guys, its getting a bit frustrating now!

May be the ignition switch or earth strap? Dodgy immobiliser?!!
These threads may help? But if your starter and solenoid have been tested, then…

If it clicks then the ignition switch is working.

If the battery is fine, and so is the starter and solenoid, then it will be the wiring at fault (since this is the only thing left! Its a simple circuit, albeit one which carries a high current). It could be the earth lead too, as well as the battery + lead.

But….worth doing some simple checks with a multimeter to see if the battery is okay or not. A lot of people had starting issues over winter and it turned out they'd been sold faulty batteries, supplied as new, etc. They get discharged when they sit on a shelf in a shop, etc etc.
