Can't remove my Blaupunkt radio...

Post

Please help!

Hello everyone, thank you for taking a look to help me.

Hopefully you can see from the photos that my Blaupunkt has a anti-theft lock that I don't have the key for…

My friend snapped the plastic trying to force it out with a flathead. :dry:If anyone has a key that might fit or any ideas I would be really grateful! :)

This is in the wrong section I think but I don't really understand how you can't remove it.

Surely you just put radio removing pins in the 4 holes in the corners (u can get these for a few quid at Halfords).

If you need to remove the red thing at the top either use brute force or drill the lock.

Ooops, sorry. What section should it be in?

Yeah, I've got pins but the red bit prevents it form sliding out.

Erm Electrical section or Interior fittings.

If you don't want to keep the radio, just destroy the red bit by any means necessary. Just dremel it off or drill the lock out.

I can't delete and re-post it can I?

Preferable I would like to keep it, I wanted to take it out to see if I could get it to work again…

Hi Tom
Id drill the little lock out and see what happens, id be inclined to remove the stereo from the car though, to make it a little easier. You may need to crack open the stereo casing aswell to see how it locks in. People pay good money for original style Blaupunkt head units so id be carefull not to break it!  O_o  O_o

Yeah, I definitely don't want to damage it. I'll try drilling it carefully.

Thank you!

Almost :offtopic:

Not related to the brutal removal of the security lock but I'd give my right arm for one of those locks in perfect condition!

So if anyone knows where I can get my hands on one please get back to me.

Back to subject.  :)

Get the head unit out of the dash. Use a wire coat hanger with the ends 'nipped' about 1/4 inch from the end and this will remove the complete unit. Take the top off the head unit and either snip off or push round the locking mechanism.
It's brass Vs plastic, so be careful when removing the security cassette. If you have the keys/pins to remove the stereo, then use them, the coathanger versions will suffice but better with the eBay £2 purchase.
