Can i clock my clocks?

Need to swap my clocks over on my 1984 mk1 gti cabrio….how do you alter the clocks to get the same mileage as i've already got? Not got the clocks yet…so need to know whether it can be done forward or backward.

you dont need to wind them back etc, simply remove the clock separately from the rest of the replacement unit and swap it over with the old one so you still keep the original unit or is the actual speedometer clock goosed, if not do as stated above.

Did you manage to swop your mileage clock?  If not I do know how to do it.  

I've done it twice now, once on a Mk2 and on my Mk1 to replace a duff speedo clock.  Its suprisingly easy! (MK2 was scrapped and the old MK1 clocks will be kept for proof IF I ever sell it before I get accussed of being a crook)

Let me know if you need the info and promise me your not going to mis represent the mileage of your car cos as we all know its illegal.
