Can anyone identify....with pics

what these plugs are for,

obviously the bigger plug of the three is for the clocks, the other two come out of the same section of loom but unsure what they plug into, any ideas?

the small black ones are for the ciggy lighter lamp, and the heater facia lamp, the other white one could be the hazard switch one or one of the other dash switches :D

lol, i did

i've replaced the old '82 loom (bullet style fusebox) with a late '90 cabby loom, the early loom doesnt have those extra plugs, but everything else is the same apart from needing a newer syle headlight switch as the plugs are slightly different

Post

that explains a lot then!! those other plugs are possibly for electric hood/ and/or window switches that were in the centre consul on the cabrio or maybe even part of the loom for the side repeater lamps

some of the looms on later cars had different connectors to the early cars, i have had all versions of Gti mk1 and they have all been slightly different in some way or another

White multiplug ones look like MFA connectors.

You dont happen to have any spare connectors that go to speakers in the door do you?

Worth a shot.

Re: Can anyone identify....with pics

what these plugs are for is ……….

Light feed to facia panel , heater . [black plug] White plug MFA feed left bottom of clocks .

obviously the bigger plug of the three is for the clocks, the other two come out of the same section of loom but unsure what they plug into, any ideas?

[You could chop those MFA wires back to the fuze board , thats where they all terminate .]

Brown wire on large plug , earth it , it was for Mfa function and used to be earthed on the rocker cover .

Haynes Manual [green cover] for MK2 Golf has better wiring diagram for more info .

light feed to the facia panel is already accounted for…

…i'll trace the wires back tomorrow in the light and see whereabouts they come from,

yarp black 2 pin plug is the mfa connection on the later cluster. what it is early ones have 1/2 switch on the clocks and just a button on mfa stalk. later ones have 1/2 button on stalk, so extra wires from there to a 2 pin plug in the back of the cluster :)
