Cabrio sound system - advice needed please!!
- What sizes are the standard speakers so I can source replacements
- How do you strip down the front door and rear quarter cards without damaging them
- Would the car benefit from some extra sound deadening such at Dynamat
I am vaguely hoping that there might be a ready-made guide somewhere on this forum or elsewhere on the web. As I said, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers in advance

Welcome to the site.
The front speaker pods will take 6 x 4 speakers, the rears 4 x 4.
I used Infinity 452i 6 x 4 105w in the front (straight fit)
and
Infinity 452i 4 x 4 in the rear.
I take it that your Sportline does have door pods, if so there is a screw that holds the pod in place at the front. You then have to wriggle the pod about a bit to get it out. Unplug/ screw the old speaker and replace with the new. Replace.
The rears are more complicated (only a little). You have to remove the plastic seat belt cover at the base and then pop the rear card off its mounting. Once removed you will probably find a plastic membrane. Turn this back and locate the speaker. Unscrew and refit the new on . Replace card etc.
My rear speakers were wired from factory so that the balance couldn't be altered. There was a small block connector just below the knee bar on the A post. I chopped that out and replaced the rear cables with decent ones to get better sounds.

I don't run a Sportline (fancy a swap?) so I didn't realise that you have 5" round.
Try Southside Audio, Southampton. I got mine from there about ?100 all in p+p I'm sure they'll have Infinity to fit 5"…. if you want to use that brand.

This had been discussed before recently…

If you get a Haynes manual it'll tell you how to strip your door down, its pretty simple. If you are just going to replace the speakers in the door pockets then theres no need for this. Just unscrew the 2 screws at the front of the speaker pod and slide the pod off.
You might benefit from some dyna mat or something at the front doors, just it the new speakers and see what its like first.

I've found a good site for audio, its usually much cheaper than most but postage is ?10, but this is ok if you're ordering the whole setup.

My next problem is that I now need to find somewhere that stocks these speakers - Infinity 452i 6x4s & Infinity 452i 4x4s.
I followed the suggested link but they no longer seem to stock these speakers.
Anyone know where I can pick these up from now?
Also how any idea on how much they should cost?
Thanks Rob.

Just found this post by doing a search through the archives - which is great as it has the info I need.

I bought mine from an eBay shop. They were new and boxed so I can't see any problems in doing that, and the price was keen too.
