buzzing and...

Hi all,

got a buzzing coming from the dash, had a look and cant see where it is coming from. giving the dash a whack stops it but starts again. up goes the stereo :banghead:

Clocks stoped working, miles that is. rev counter, speed all ok.

any ideas on the above?

Cheers
Tucker

the buzzing is the oil pressure warning buzzer, seams to be a regular proble with the dash can be poor earth or connections, I had my car a month it did it once when i had the fan running, switch it off, the buzzer stopped.

It may be that you don't have good oil pressure though!!

Electrics seem to be a pain, but cleaning contacts first can reslove many issues, before you resort to major surgery  :D

From the user manual states that the buzzer only comes on if engine speeds are over 2000rpm and the oil light is also on.

comes on when she wants to. just got the car and the guy said that he thought it was the oil presure switch. hes changed it for 3 differant ones and disconected it and it still does it. no lights when going off but some times my oil light does come on but then off again. its a 1500 GL.

hit the dash and turns off :dontknow:

Sounds like bad earth or connection if it's erratic, and I've never seen low oil pressure cured by hitting the dash

Have noticed a slight oil leak, would that make a differance?

How do i go about earthing it, and where is the buzzer located?

The oil leak would not generally cause low presure a few drips are  nothing to worry about. Oil pressure is created by the pump pushing oil through the crank oil ways to the bearings, low oil pressure indicates a poor oil pump or warn crank bearings (which may cause the engine to rumble) There is a brown/white wire that should be connected to the rocker cover and were the body earth strap is aslo connected, check these first.

Hope that all make sense

The buzzer is in the dash
