Brake lights!!!!!!!!!

Well once again my brake lights don't work :banghead: I know how to fix it as i have done it about five times over the past year. What happens is they dont work so i check the fuses which are allways fine check the bulbs these are also ok and check all the connections. I then buy a new brake light switch and hey presto they work, but as im sure you are aware it's quite an annoying job to do and quite risky for snapping brake pipes. So i just wondered if anyone would know why the switch keeps braking. Any help would be awesome as i have no brake lights at the mo.
Cheers

fit a pedal switch, there is a handy flat plate on the pedal box where you can mount one. ive heard pug ones fit well, or you could fit a later scirocco/cabby pedal box with the mounting for a factory switch.

Yep, I'd got for the footbrake switch too - in fact I have!!  8O

The only issue that I've encountered was a few months ago when I saw a strange red glow on my garage doors at 3am on morning - found out that the switch have slipped and the button had popped out.

Running repairs at 3am is fun!!

Cheers for the replies I was wondering if you could fit a pedal switch. Is there a guide on how to do this as I don't have a clue how or what parts I would need but am vert capable of doing it once I know how

early models have pressure switches at the MC, later models have a pedal switch.  Once you have a look at your pedal box I'm sure it will become clear! On mine there was a metal plate which would be perfect to mount one, on the later models this plate has a hole in it where the factory pedal box is fitted! its not a round hole tho it has 'lugs' as the switch pushes in and twist to lock in plcae.  iirc the pug one had a screw fixing so it would be easier to make the hole for this one

I'm keen on doing this myself as my brake lights don't come on unless I'm braking quite hard.

Is that a Peugeot switch you're using there Dano?

Thanks

Those who know me will know that I'm a polisher NOT a mechanic!
The switch was put on when I had the brake system upgraded to a 16v job - much better. they initially forgot to put it on and it was some weeks after when I noticed!

Everything has been fine with the set up, save for the 3am issue and I managed to sort that myself.

I've not a clue if it a Peugeot or not - sorry.
