Brake lights have chosen to stop working -_-

Post

Driving in front of my mate today and he tells me my brake lights don't work, I checked and sure enough, they don't work! I have checked the bulbs, the fuses and the connectors on the cylinder its self, and all seem fine! What on earth could it be?!

Try the switch at the pedal

Where is that? I thought it was actuated by the ones on the cylinder?

89 Caddy, no such switch under there! Topped up the brake fluid and all seems to be working again!

If you had to top up your brake fluid I would guess you have a leak somewhere, check the rear wheel cyinders if its bad you will see brake fluid on the inside of the rear wheels, best take the drums off and have a look under the rubber boot of the wheel cyinder.
I have a 1988 Cabriolet and I have a switch on the brake pedal and my 1978 Scirocco has a switch on the master cyinder, strange yours having the older style brake light switch?
