Boot opening Solenoid

Hi, I'm trying to wire a solenoid from my rear window wiper,to open the boot when i operate the rear window wiper on the stalk. But i keep blowing fuses and now i'm managing to make it work but only when i turn the key and not when i operate the rear window wiper. Can anybody offer any advice, the solenoid didn't come with any instructions and as you can see i'm no electritian!
Thanks Darren.

use the green/black wire and the brown wire. the grey/black is ign live so dont use that. make sure you have a non-intermittant relay in your fusebox (#20) if its a #72 it'll pop the boot every few seconds

if you want to have it on a switch you can crimp a male terminal on the switch output wire and put into the socket where the relay pin 53 goes, also you can remove the relay and splice the switch output wire to the green/black wire to the back of the fusebox. its E/2 on the blade fusebox, on the early ceramic fusebox the relay is above the fusebox so even easier
