Blowers and wipers not working

I have an 86 cabby 1.8 8v, the wipers, blowers and front fogs currently arent working.

I have tried several things to get them up and going, I have had the whole lot apart and checked the continuity between all the wires, all the wires seem good which counts the loom out.  I have given the fan blowers a positive straight from the battery, this gets the fans working and the wipers working (not checked the fogs).  I have also checked continuity between the power feed to the blowers and the fuse in the fuse box which gives a good connection.

The fuse isnt showing any voltage going through it when the car the running as such there is no power getting through to any of the switches.

Does this run through a relay which could be fault? If so which relay is it?  Could it be a dodgy fuse box where a connection has got corroded?

Does anyone have any other ideas on what it could be?

As for the fog lights, I havent really looked into these yet, they will be the next job, I was trying to get the other bits working so I could get it MOT'd then look at them later.  Any guesses on them would be good.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Dazzle,

I have just replaced the ignition switch as the headlights didnt work, so that shouldnt be a problem anymore.  I will check the connections across it again in the morning to make sure it is working properly.

Had the same problem with wipers, took fuse box out and cleaned all the contacts up and all was fine again.

if your lights work then its not the ignition switch, its the x-over relay #17 or #18. if they dont work then its the ign switch, or the yellow/black wire from it has snapped somewhere
