Blaupunkt Hamburg wiring diagram/spec Installation

Hi all,

I recently picked up a Blaupunkt Hamburg that I am wanting to get installed into my 1981 MK1 which has the early fusebox.

Has anyone got any useful links/posts that would help me get this installed?

I was hoping that I might be able to find a scan of the stereo brochure, but I cant find one anywhere.

There is no existing wiring in the car for a stereo that I can see, so it looks like im going to have to do this from scratch.

So any help would be appreciated :)

Also there is no aerial, so I was wondering what the best thing to do is? can you get a dash areal or something that sits inside the car, rather than needing an external one fitting.

There you go, scanned these pages from an owners manual and repair schematic.

Use the schematic for your connection as your set has only one speaker feed.

The owners manual is for a Hamburg with 2 x speaker feeds and there is an additional negative connection above the positive that will be absent on yours, otherwise they are both identical in operation.

I'm no auto-spark, get someone who is to confirm your set matches these diagrams before you start messing about!

Under your pillow you wouldn't happen to have an owners manual for a Blaupunkt Mainz 24 would you please?

I got the wiring from Blaupunkt Direct. They had to order it but at least the connections should be fine.

Ha! Put that eBay manual on my watch list to keep the link for you and within minutes the seller has knocked 15% off! Must be an automated thing?

What's the best option for the car aerial? My car doesn't have one

Are there any internal options?

I'm guessing if you've gone to the trouble of getting a period radio you'll want something that's either hidden or fits in with the age of your car? This is just the first one I found, I'm sure there's probably cheaper out there… eBay
