blank mfa display ?

 i have no display on the mfa . the earth wire on rocker rocker was missing, i have reconnected that , for some reason water temp gauge was connected to alternater and another wire connected . wire was cut at connecter block to do this. there are no reverse lights . thought about changing mfa/ reverse switch could this cause blank display if faulty ?

Normally you would still get a display on the MFA even if the sensor wire's weren't connected to the right places, or connected to anything.  Mine's gone weird before, but is normally sorted by disconnecting the battery, waiting about 10mins, and reconnecting it. Resets all the ageing electronics.

Of course there could be other issues, like is there definitely power getting to the console and things like that, but there's no reason I can think why faulty sensors or switch could cause the display to be completely blank, as functions like the clock on it still work whether it's connected to anything or not.

cheers for reply manic, had another look this morning in daylight , checked  fuses radio fuse had blown  ops:       . just got to sort out reverse lights now.
