BATTERY?

Lights on dash are very dim,when enginne is running the headlights are brighter,charged battery,do you think the battery might be on the way out….my tester only reads 12v not 13 or 14 so can't tell how good the battery is……

The lights on the dash are dim unless you have changed the bulbs to 2w.

I change my battery frequently (once a year) for piece of mind. The GSF battery is very good and cheap.

Oh, it might be worth checking the alternator.

If everything gets brighter when the engine is running go through ALL your connections  8O , clean them and reassemble with some corrosion inhibitor.  Check and clean all earths.  This should sort your problems!

Just read your entry re battery problems! My car is stored in my garage and only comes out on sunny days! I am considering buying a battery conditioner, this works the battery bringing the charge up and down prolonging the life of the battery! Maybe if your car is standing for long periods this may be a solution worth considering? They are not cheap but nither are new batteries! Hope this helps!….www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk      Cheers….Walt!
